Garmin GPS 255W, Overall Good
Overall a good buy. Product is very easy to use and gives clear instruction, but I was a little disappointed that the maps were a bit old and new updates were needed immediately. Box must have been sitting on the shelf for a while, or Garmin doesn't update internal chip often.
Garmin good after part absent
Ater taking 2 hours to download and customize the Garmin, my husband went to put it in the car and realized that the cradle to hold it was missing, so he left on a week long business trip without being able to mount it. Highly inconvenient to say the least. However, a replacement one was sent out right away with the necessary paperwork to return the one with missing parts. So, my beef is with the hassle Amazon caused, not the actual Garmin.
Garmin eTrex Legend user decides to make the plunge .. I love it.
Im a long time Garmin eTrex Legend user. Was a holdout on buying a color, talking GPS for the car ("What's wrong w/ the good old eTrex?"). But having bought one, and recently field tested on a week long trip to downtown Houston, I'm sold. I love it. The one tweek I had to make was to replace the "car" icon with a more standard arrow (I could never tell which direction the car was pointing; I run the GPS w/ North up). The icon was easily replaced w/ a download from the Garmin site.
